MISD Foundation Gala
The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation hosted its 4th annual Gala at Resistol Arena in Mesquite featuring music super group KC and the Sunshine Band live in concert on March 26, 2010. Still widely popular, KC and the Sunshine Band entertained attendees with a unique fusion of R&B and funk, with a hint of Latin percussion groove. A Lone Star Legacy, as the evening was called, was the Foundations' major fundraiser for this school year.
The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to enriching and enhancing the education of Mesquite ISD’s 37,000 students. The Foundation seeks to create a permanent endowment that supplements public education dollars. Programs are funded from donations and endowment earnings. All net proceeds from the concert went directly to benefit MISD programs for students.
In 2009, the popular country band Lonestar entertained the crowd of more than 700 people. The Aggie Wrangler Dancers performed and live and silent auctions were held to help raise money for the Foundation.
