The principal is James Petty, a successful businessman and a cowboy at heart. James’ love for rodeo and horses, combined with his previous engagement as “The Frisco RoughRider” prompted him to pursue ownership of the Mesquite Championship Rodeo.

He brings a unique combination of sports business knowledge and experience that is derived from his years of successfully managing various aspects of major and minor league sports. His expertise includes ticket and sponsorship sales, stadium operations, special events and facility development.
McCall was the Founding President and General Manager of the Frisco RoughRiders. The RoughRiders had record setting attendance and set a new standard for sponsorship and ticket revenue. McCall also served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. Mike and his wife have two children and make their home in Collin County.
Founded by Stace Smith, Smith Pro Rodeos is made up of three different Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Stock Contractor Cards; Stace Smith Pro Rodeos, Silverado Rodeo and Smith, Harper & Morgan.
Stace first became involved with rodeo in high school where he competed as a bull rider. After high school he received his B.B.A from Baylor University and went on to create a successful telecommunications construction company.
After that, Smith’s impact on the rodeo world was quick in coming. In 1999 he was able to take livestock to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and in 2001 his bull, Hurricane, was named PRCA Bull of the Year. In 2004, Stace had the opportunity to become the owner of the current Smith, Harper & Morgan card. It was also this same year that he first won PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year.
One of the most respected minds in the NBA; Donnie Nelson is involved in every aspect of the Mavericks basketball operations.
A 1986 graduate of Wheaton College (III), Nelson was inducted into the school’s Hall of Honor on Oct. 3, 1997. He led Wheaton in scoring and was a NABC All-Midwest selection. Born Sept. 10, 1962, he and his wife, Lotta, have a daughter, Christie and son, D.J.
After receiving his MBA from the University of Western Ontario, Jack rejoined Matthews Group Ltd, the family business, in 1982 as Vice President and presided over a period of unprecedented growth as company revenues grew from $69 million to $500 million. At the same time, Matthews Southwest was established in order to provide an American presence in the development business.
In 1994 Matthews relocated to Dallas, Texas and has continued to develop innovative, quality commercial, industrial and residential projects in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Matthews Southwest has recently been awarded the development contract for the largest and most significant hotel project in Dallas: The 1,000 room Omni Hotel adjacent to the Dallas Convention Center.
Mark Andrews is a local business man who owns K E Andrews & Company, a Valuation and Tax Firm with offices in Austin and Denver with headquarters in Rowlett. His personal expertise involves dealing with tax and valuation issues in corporate matters primarily in the energy industry including numerous Fortune 500 clients on a national level.
Mark has lived in the metroplex his entire life and graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a Degree in Finance. He and his wife Teresa, who grew up in Mesquite, now reside in Heath, Texas and have one daughter.
Daniel K. Presley has been Vice President of Accounting since December 1997 and has been with the Company since December 1989 serving as Controller since 1991. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Presley had six years of experience with several independent oil and gas companies including AmBrit Energy, Inc. Prior thereto, Presley spent two and one-half years with B.D.O. Seidman, a public accounting firm. Presley received a B.B.A from Texas A & M University in 1983.
Matt Morris is the Managing Director of The Stadion Group, a full management and marketing company. He has particular experience advising sports franchises (MLB, MiLB, NFL, NHL, AHL).
Matt earned his MSc in finance from the University in Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Matt lives with his wife and two daughters in Las Colinas, Texas.
